[WATCH] 65 held, sent to quarantine for violating COVID-19 shutdown norms in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Since the 48-hour complete shutdown is in force in Twin City and Bhadrak town of Odisha against spread of novel coronavirus (COVID-19), as many as 65 persons including a woman have been detained on charges of violating the shutdown norms in state capital today.

 

The violators have been sent to qurantine set up at OUAT guest house for a period of 14 days as part of taking strict action for not obeying the shutdown rules, informed Bhubaneswar DCP Anup Sahoo.

 

The restriction has been imposed on people’s movement on streets, roads as well as in slums. The violators will be put under quarantine mandatorily if they come out of houses during shutdown, he added.

 

On the other hand, Bhadrak Town Police have arrested nine perons in connection with violation of shutdown guidelines enforced since yesterday evening.

 

Odisha government switched the lockdown to complete shutdown in view of rapid spread of Covid-19 especially in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak town. The curfew has been clamped in these three towns during 48-hour shutdown completely restricting people from coming out of houses and roaming on streets or roads.

 

Meanwhile, the number of positive cases of Covid-19 has reached 20 in Odisha so far. Out of 20, two have been discharged from hospitals after recovery.
