Bhubaneswar: Anupam Patnaik-directed movie 'Pratikshya' bagged the Best Odia Feature Film award at the 69th National Film Awards ceremony at Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi today.

Patnaik received the award in the form of a Rajat Kamal and cash prize of Rs 1,00,000 from President Droupadi Murmu.

The movie stars Dipanwit Dashmohapatra, Choudhury Jayprakash Das, Barsha Patnaik and Sidhant Mohapatra among others.

Being inspired from a short story by writer Gourahari Das, ‘Pratikshya’ is the story of Sanjay, a boy from a middle-class family who is on the lookout for a government job, a few months before the retirement of his father. His father, Bipin, is later diagnosed with a terminal illness.

Sanjay learns about the Government’s scheme of compassionate appointment, in which a family member gets the job of the deceased government employee. A frustrated Sanjay waits for his father’s death only to realise his disturbing mind. It is a film about family, especially about the complex relationships fathers and sons have.
