7.72 lakh farmers so far registered to sell paddy this Kharif season: Odisha Minister

Bhubaneswar: As many as 7.72 lakh farmers in the state have so far registered themselves to sell their paddy under the minimum support price (MSP) scheme for this Kharif season, informed Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Minister Ranendra Pratap Swain.

“For procurement of paddy this Kharif season, the department has been directed to prepare a error-free list of farmers by expediting the registration and verification process. Total 7,72,544 farmers have so far registered themselves through an Aadhaar-linked online system to sell their produce,” the Minister said.

Those farmers willing to sell their paddy will have to go for the registration at the nearest Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society (PACS). A Help Desk has been set up at each cooperative society to facilitate the farmers in the registration process, he informed.

Besides, department officials have been asked to immediately resolve various grievances related to registration and verification of farmers, the Minister added.
