7-day relief for flood-affected Odisha districts

Bhubaneswar: After reviewing flood situation in the State, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today announced relief for seven days for people in three affected districts.

Reviewing flood situation with Collectors of Bhadark, Kendrapara and Jajpur districts through a video conference at Secretariat here, Patnaik announced distribution of relief materials for affected people for a weak.

Accordingly, adults will get relief materials worth Rs 60 per day whereas children below 12-year-old will receive relief worth Rs 45 per day. Besides, the State government will bear the cost of treatment and vaccination of livestock during the period. Patnaik also asked the Collectors to ensure supply of drinking water to the affected areas. Sources said around 7.5 lakh people of 903 villages of Bhadrak, Jajpur and Kendrapara districts have been affected due to floods.  Besides, 50,000 hectares of cultivated land have been damaged in the flood.
