Phulbani, June 16:
Seven persons were killed and three others grievously hurt when a mini truck loaded with cow dung manure skidded off a ghat road in Odisha’s Kandhamal district today, police said.
The loaded vehicle which was carrying all the victims failed to negotiate a curve in the Pakari ghat road under Gochhapara police station and fell into a ditch, the subdivsional police officer (SDPO) Prabhat Mohapatra said.
Seven persons, who were buried under the cow dung manure following the accident, were found dead when local rescuers tried to pull them out. Three others, who were seriously injured, were sent to district headquarters here for treatment.
SDPO Mohapatra said all the deceased were labourers and hailed from nearby villages. The driver of the ill-fated vehicle was absconding, he said.
