7 more COVID patients die in Odisha, Jagatsinghpur reports first death

Bhubaneswar: As many as 7 more COVID-19 patients died in Odisha, official sources said today. While five of them died due to COVID-19, two others succumbed to other health issues.

Those who died of COVID-19 have been identified as a 70-year-old woman of Ganjam district, a 67-year-old man of Jagatsinghpur district who was also suffering from diabetes, a 44-year old man of Ganjam district, a 65-year-old woman of Sundargarh district who was also suffering from diabetes and bronchitis, and a 39-year-old man of Ganjam district who was also suffering from diabetes.

With this, Jagatsinghpur district reported its first COVID-19 death.

The two COVID-19 patients who died due to other health complications have been identified as a 53-year-old man of Ganjam district who succumbed to bradycardia, hyperkalemia and metabolic acidosis and had a history of chronic kidney disease, and an 83-year-old man of Bhubaneswar who died due to uncontrolled diabetes, acute kidney injury and metabolic acidosis.

With the fresh deaths, COVID toll in Odisha mounted to 91 while 28 COVID-19 patients have died of other health problems so far.

The state today also reported 736 fresh COVID-19 cases.
