The Fitment Committee for implementation of recommendations of Seventh Pay Commission for Odisha government employees today started its deliberations with representatives of various employees’ organizations.

The Fitment Committee held discussions with 20 organizations on the first day.

“First meeting of the Fitment Committee was held today. All members of the Committee were present at the meeting. Representatives of 20 associations met us today. They have submitted their demands in writing to us. We have received their applications in which they have highlighted their major demands. We will look into their demands. Like this we will meet various groups separately. We will collect representations from them on their demands. Then we will do a detailed analysis. Fitment is an HR related exercise. Some demands and issues are already pending with the Finance department. Some are existing issues. But then same issues have been highlighted. Most of the demands are on fitment and promotion scope and HR related issues,” informed Fitment Committee Chairman R Balakrishnan.

“We submitted our demands on grade pay to the Committee. The Committee listened to our demands carefully and we are hopeful that the government will do something to fulfill our demands,” said Rajendra Kumar Acharya, representative of Revenue Service Association.

The Fitment Committee will be meeting representatives of 117 employees’organizations within six days.

It may be worthwhile to mention here that the state government had announced constitution of a six-member Fitment Committee on October 31 for implementation of recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission.

The Fitment Committee which has Finance Secretary Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Home Secretary Asit Tripathy, Forest and Environment Secretary Suresh Mohapatra, Special Secretaries Finance A K Meena and  Aswini Mishra as members will submit its report to the government within four months.
