7th Pay Commission: Hike in minimum pay likely to be announced on Aug 15?

Bhubaneswar:  With Central Government employees eagerly waiting for a hike in minimum pay and fitment factor beyond the 7th Pay Commission, the Centre is likely to announce an increase in the salaries in no time.

If reports are to be believed, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to announce an increase in the fitment factor and minimum pay beyond the recommendations of 7th Central Pay Commission on Independence Day (August 15).

Sources said if it is announced, the minimum pay of the Central Government employees will be increased from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. And, the fitment factor will see a rise of 3.68 per cent.  This would benefit approximately 48.41 lakh Central Government employees.

Sources further said around 61 lakh pensioners may also get a hike in the dearness allowance (DA). However, there is no official confirmation on the same yet as to when this will happen.

Recently, the Maharashtra government announced salaries hike for its employees with effective from Diwali this year.
