8 held for snatching in Odisha Capital

Bhubaneswar: In a major breakthrough, the Commissionerate Police today arrested seven members of a looters’ gang and seized motorcycles, gold chains and mobile phones from them. Also, another person was held for allegedly purchasing stolen items from the looters.

Taking advantage of lonely place or darkness during the night, the looters used to snatch mobile phones and other valuables in Khandagiri, Nayapalli and Saheed Nagar areas of Bhubaneswar. After several complaints of loot and snatching were filed in Bhubaneswar city during past few days, a special team was formed by the Nayapalli Police to nab the looters.

A police official said the accused were from different places and staying in Nayapalli and Laxmisagar areas in Bhubaneswar. They were using motorcycles to execute their loot plans and fled the spot, the official added.

The accused were Golden Abida from Jadupur village, JItendra Pradhan of Dhalapur village, Biswajit Das of Andharua village under Chhatrapur police limits, Kashinath Patra from Sirokoli village in Mayurbhanj district, Ajay Kumar Mandal from Tangi, Sanjay Das from Bhusandpur village, Chintu Dharmendra Kumar from Munger and Mithun Samudra from Polasara.
