80 % of fresh COVID-19 cases reported in Bhubaneswar are local contacts

Bhubaneswar: Out of the all-time-high of 902 fresh COVID-19 cases reported from Khordha district, 319 cases have been detected from the state capital, informed Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

With the fresh cases, Bhubaneswar’s tally further surged to 20,538, which include 3574 active cases.

The local contacts continue to rise in Bhubaneswar as compared to the quarantine cases. Of the total fresh cases, 257 (80.5 %)are local contacts while remaining 62 have been detected from different quarantines. In the local contacts, highest 16 cases been detected from Nayapalli area.

Meanwhile, 353 patients have recovered from the disease in the city taking the total count to 16,864. The virus has claimed 84 lives in the city so far.
