8000 Sikhya Sahayaks to lose jobs in Odisha

School and Mass Education (SME) Secretary Ranjana Chopra has written to Collectors of all 30 districts to lay off Sikhya Sahayaks (contractual teacher) that have not submitted their Odisha Teachers Eligibility Test (OTET) qualifying certificates.

Once implemented, this move would affect nearly 8000 contractual teachers that are on job since 2012, however, have not submitted their qualifying certificates.

The School and Mass Education Department had earlier issued a notice to these teachers asking them to submit the certificates latest by March 31, 2013.
