94 lakh households of Odisha to get additional grains for three months

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government today asked Collectors to provide five kg of rice per person/month and one kg of milled arhar dal per family/month for April-June period under the PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana to as many as 94 lakh households in the State covered under the national/state food security schemes. This is over and above the monthly quota of subsidized food grain provided under the national/state food security scheme.

In letters to Collectors, the Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare department said 2,78,566.68 quintals milled arhar dal from central pool will be distributed among the NFSA prioriy households (PHH) and Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households under Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana (PMGKAY) in view of COVID-19 for the month of April, May and June 2020. Under the scheme both the eligible PHH and AAY families are entitled to get one kg of milled arhar dal per family per month free of cost.

A total of 48,70,574.85 quintals of rice will be distributed from central pool among the NFSA PHH and AAY households under PMGKAY in view of COVID-19 for the month of April, May and June. Under the scheme, both the PHH and AAY beneficiaries are entitled to get five kg of rice per person per month free of cost.

A total of 56,824.35 quintals of rice will be distributed from the State pool among the eligible beneficiaries under the state food security scheme in view of COVID-19 for the month of April, May and June. The state food security scheme beneficiaries will get additional rice of 5 kg per person per month free of cost.

This apart, 3480.21 quintals milled arhar dal from State pool will be distributed among the eligible PDS beneficiaries under the State Food Security Scheme in view of COVID-19 for the month of April, May and June. Under the scheme all eligible SFSS families will get one kg of milled arhar dal per family per month free of cost.

The Collectors have been asked to start the distribution soon.
