Titlagarh (43 degree) was the only place in the state to have recorded temperature above the 40 degree mark on Tuesday. Mercury levels have come down in most parts in both north and south-western districts following rain over the last 24 hours.

Director of IMD Bhubaneswar Dr Sarat Sahu described Tuesday’s widespread rainfall as pre-monsoon showers and said the onset of monsoon can be announced only after watching rainfall activity across the state in the next two days.

The Met department in its evening press release has predicted thundershower over most places in Odisha on Wednesday and Thursday and also warned of very heavy rainfall accompanied by surface wind reaching a speed of 60 kmph at some places during this period.
