The Aam Admi Party today launched its "Mission Bistaar'  programme in Odisha under which the fledgling party would conduct a two-month long sustained membership drive.

The initiative was launched at the state party committee in Cuttack earlier in the day. AAP national executive member Manish Sisodia told media persons here in the evening.

Briefing reporters about the details of the mission, Sisodia said around 170 out of the 300 party executives and workers present in today’s meeting were given the task of moving from village to village level covering all booths in the state.

“In just one and a half years of the party’s advent in the State, it has earned the support of 1.45 lakh voters in the last election. The number of votes polled by AAP suggests that it has a bright future ahead in the state," Sisodia said.

The senior AAP leader said the party’s main aim now is to increase the number of members. This, he said, will be achieved by sending  party executives and workers to the grassroots level to mobilise support for the party.

"Moving from door to door and from village to village would also give them a feel of the issues on the ground and build a rapport with the people," he said. The challenge is to do substantive work in the field, he added.

By fielding 106 candidates for Vidhan Sabha and 18 candidates for the Lok Sabha, the party has achieved its preliminary objective of geographical expansion and cadre mobilisation in the state, the AAP national executive member said.

Sisodia asserted that the party will fill up the opposition space in the state and will question the state government on its anti people policies and corruption cases.
