Abandoned baby girl mauled to death by stray dog in Odisha’s Angul

Bhubaneswar: In a heart-wrenching incident, a newborn girl was reportedly mauled to death by a stray dog in Angul district of Odisha today.

The baby was abandoned by someone at a secluded place near Sharadhapur village under Angul block in the afternoon.

A biker spotted a dog mauling the baby girl at around 4 pm in the afternoon. He chased away the dog and informed the incident to a social activist, sources said.

Soon, locals contacted an ambulance to rush the baby to a hospital. However, the baby died before the arrival of the ambulance, sources said.

On being informed, police reached the spot and seized the body.

“We have registered a case of unnatural death in this regard and launched a probe into the incident. The newborn baby’s body has been preserved at a morgue at Angul,” said a police officer.
