Abducted minor girl gangraped, victim rescued from Odisha capital after five days

Bhanjanagar: A minor girl after being abducted from Bhanjanagar of Ganjam district was allegedly gangraped. She was rescued by police from Bhubaneswar after five days.

Bhanjanagar police nabbed one accused identified as Sushant Pradhan, a resident of the victim’s village under Bhanjanagar police limits, from Bhubaneswar.

The victim girl underwent medical examination at MKCG Medical College & Hospital in Berhampur. The accused will be arrested after recording his statement.

A case has been registered in this regard at Bhanjanagar police station, informed Bhanjanagar DSP in-charge Ashwini Kumar Sahoo.

The probe is launched to trace out others allegedly involved in the incident.

According to reports, the minor girl was allegedly abducted by Pradhan and his aides on January 22 from the place where she had gone for attending Saraswati Puja. She was allegedly gangraped in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack.

Acting on a missing complaint filed by the victim’s family, a special team of Bhanjanagar police reached Bhubaneswar from where she was rescued on Friday. Police managed to nab the accused in the city.
