Koraput, Jan 31:

Six days after they were abducted, two employees of the Auronir School in Kechla village under Lankaput panchayat in Koraput block have been rescued, police sources said.

Both were abducted on January 24 by unidentified criminals.

Four persons have been detained in connection with the case.

It may be noted here that Sukant Satpathy, supervisor and Chinmay Parida, librarian of the Auronir School in Kechla village were abducted by eight masked men on January 24.

These masked men had asked Satpathy, Parida and the school watchman to accompany them to attend an urgent meeting at Petaghat inside the Kolab reservoir.

However, they had released the school watchman at the village jetty before boarding the village launch for Petaghat.
While local people suspected it to be the handiwork of Maoists who are active in this area,

IG Jethwa had ruled out the involvement of Maoists in the act and had said the abductors were a gang of people with past criminal records.

Three police teams had been deployed to investigate the matter and senior police officials were monitoring the search operations.
