‘Abducted’ toddler rescued in Paradip; domestic help detained

Paradip: Paradeep Police today rescued a toddler and detained a domestic help in connection with alleged kidnapping of the child here in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

The two-and-a-half-year-old baby, son of Shatrughan Samal of Titira village, was allegedly kidnapped by domestic help identified as Manini Sahoo in Paradip last week.

According to reports, Samal along with his wife and little son had visited one of his relatives Krushna Chandra Prusty on August 17 in Paradip. On the same day, Manini, who was engaged as the domestic help at Samal’s relative’s house, reportedly abducted the baby from the residence and fled.

Next day, when the baby and domestic help were found missing, Samal lodged a complaint with the Paradeep Model Police.

Based on the complaint, the police launched a manhunt to nab the domestic help.

During extensive search operation, the police personnel rescued the baby and detained the accused woman for interrogation in the case.

Worth mentioning, the accused woman was hired as the domestic help at Prusty’s house just two days ago of the incident. Posing herself as a wealthy, she had described self as a helpless woman. She had also allured Prusty to give share from her property for assistance during adversity.
