Barely within 48 hours of the incident, police today claimed to have cracked the case in which a woman was allegedly ‘abducted’ from Press Chhak under Chandrasekharpur police limits in the capital city late on Saturday night.

Commissionerate Police clarified that it was not a case of abduction and claimed that it was a part of an inter-state sex racket.

“The woman is a sex worker from Kolkata. This is fallout of dispute between pimps. It is not a case of any abduction and action will be initiated against all including the complainant. It is a part of an inter-state sex racket,” Twin City Commissioner of Police Dr RP Sharma said.

Prima facie it appears that it is not a case of true abduction. It is a dispute between the pimps about the coordinating control, police said.

“Someone had called the complainant regarding the sex worker. The complainant arrived at a designated place with the woman but the caller did not turn up. However, three other persons reached the spot and they had altercation with the complainant. After some time, the woman left the place with the trio in the complainant’s car on her will. The woman called up the complainant’s wife and told her that she has reached her hometown Kolkata. She further told her to take their car which was parked outside Jaidev Vatika. During search, police spotted the car and apprehended two persons who were trying to lift the car. The duo has been rounded up and the vehichle has been seized,” Sharma added while briefing media persons.

Meanwhile, Commissionerate Police have arrested two persons in conncection with this case.

Notably, a person lodged a complaint with the Chandrasekharpur police that his female friend was abducted by some miscreants at around 10 pm on Saturday from Press Chhak area here.

The complainant— Prashant Rout—said in his plaint that three miscreants waylaid his car and abducted his female friend, in her 20s.

The local police registered a case under section 365 and 34 of IPC based on the complaint. Following this, Commissionerate Police launched a manhunt to nab the miscreants.
