Amlan’s father Abani Kumar Bhoi, maternal uncle, including some relatives and residents of the locality met the district Administration. The doctor’s whereabouts have not been ascertained yet.

“We appealed to Kandhamal Collector, SP for a safe rescue of Amlan. Through the district administration, we also appealed to the Collector of Malkangiri in this regard. We are not clear as to who kidnapped him. We urge the State government to rescue our child,” Amlan’s father and uncle said.

Worth mentioning, doctor Amlan is a native of Bhoi Sahi under Tikabali police limits and this town in Kandhamal. He works in Kalimela community health centre (CHC) of Malkangiri district.

Amlan was allegedly kidnapped by Maoists on the night of June 1. Beforehand, he had an argument with some locals over a post-mortem at the CHC. He was kidnapped from his official residence.

Suspected Maoists have left a handwritten note following the doctor’s abduction. On being informed, Kalimela police initiated a probe Saturday night to trace the doctor, which is still underway.
