Abhay Pathak admits fraud allegations; says he portrayed son Akash as Tata Motors MD

Bhubaneswar: Tainted IFS officer Abhay Kant Pathak has finally admitted to the fraud allegations levelled by travel agency Sky King.

During interrogation by the Commissionerate Police, the Additional PCCF (Plan, Programme, and Afforestation) yesterday confessed that he himself had portrayed his son Akash Pathak as the MD of Tata Motors.

During the interrogation it was also revealed that Akash was maintaining the luxurious lifestyle on his father’s money. Also, bookings of chartered flights, luxury accommodation at  five star hotels and air tickets were made on the IFS officer’s money through the travel agency.

Earlier today, Abhay Pathak was produced before the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court after completion of his two-day remand period. He was later sent to Jharpada jail after bail pleas of boththe father and the son were rejected by the court.

It is pertinent to mention here that Sky King, on December 2, had registered a complaint at Kharavel Nagar police station  accusing Akash of defrauding it of over Rs 65 lakh. Acting on the complaint, Sky King police had moved court seeking his remand for interrogation.

Reportedly, Akash and his father Abhay Kant Pathak had booked chartered flights, luxury accommodation at  five star hotels and air tickets  around Rs 2.78 crore through the agency. However, they had paid Rs 2.13 crore while outstanding bill of Rs 65,16,233 was not cleared.

The company further had alleged that the duo threatened officials of the Sky King of dire consequences when the latter approached to repay the bill.
