Accused held in Odisha Congress worker murder case

Jagatsinghpur: The district police yesterday arrested the prime accused in the murder of Congress worker Nachhaman Behera at Noliasahi village in Abhyachandpur area of Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district.

The arrested has been identified as Kuna Behera. Police also ruled out any political angle behind the murder.

According to police, a scuffle broke out between accused Kuna Behera and deceased Nachhaman Behera’s brother Bachha Behera on April 29 when fourth phase election was underway in Odisha.

Meanwhile, Nachhaman Behera arrived at the spot and tried to intervene, following which Kuna stabbed him with a broken liquor bottle. He was initially admitted to the Kujang community health centre and later died while being shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
