Bhubaneswar: World’s No.1 para shuttler Pramod Bhagat from Odisha qualified for the Paralympics scheduled to be held in Tokyo from August 25 to September 5, 2021.
Along with Bhagat (SL3 — standing/lower limb impairment/minor), two other para shuttlers — Tarun Tarun (SL4 — standing/ lower limb impairment/severe) and Nagar Krishna (SH6 — standing/short stature) — received invitations from the Badminton World Federation to participate in the Paralympics for India.
Amid COVID-19 pandemic, he is the first sportsperson of the State to get a ticket officially for Tokyo 2020 Paralympics.
After receiving invitation for the Paralympics, the para badminton athlete is very excited for the event.
“Every athlete dreams of participating in the Olympics. My focus is on winning gold at the Paralympics and I have been undergoing rigorous training to achieve my goal,” Bhagat said.

Recently, Bhagat had brought laurel for India and the State as well by winning two gold medals and a bronze at the Dubai Para Tournament held in April this year.
