ACF death mystery: Evidence of fire found in residential quarters

Paralakhemundi: In the ongoing probe into death mystery of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF) Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra, the Crime Branch today found some evidence of fire that had reportedly occurred at his residential quarters in Paralakhemundi.

During a search today, the investigators found burn marks on backdoor and mosquito net at the house, informed Crime Branch DSP today.

The Crime Branch team will verify the call details of deceased ACF and his wife Bidyabharati Panda to ascertain the reason behind alleged murder case.

The Crime Branch is likely to interrogate Gajapati DFO Sangram Keshari Behera in connection with the case.

Earlier, a team of Paralakhemundi Police had grilled the deceased’s wife at her residence in Mayurbhanj district.

The DFO and deceased ACF’s wife have come under scanner of the police after Saumya’s father lodged a complaint alleging the fire incident as a ‘pre-planned murder’.

He alleged that his daughter-in-law and DFO were behind the reason of his son’s death.

ACF Saumya Ranjan Mohapatra had succumbed to burn injuries on July 13 at a private hospital in Cuttack. He had reportedly caught fire inside a room at his residence in Paralakhemundi on July 12 night.
