Action against private hospitals diverting patients from SCB: Central RDC

Cuttack:  A few days after six touts were arrested for diverting patients coming to SCB Medical College and Hospital to other private hospitals, Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC) Central Division today warned authorities of private hospitals of stringent action if found indulged in such illegal practices.

The RDC Central Division said lawful action will be taken against hospitals found illegally diverting patients from SCB. Once proved, the hospital will be sealed and the owner will be arrested.

On  April 2, the Manglabag police had arrested six touts, including four ambulance drivers, on charges of diverting patients to other private hospitals from SCB Medical College and Hospital here.

Earlier in 2019, allegations used to frequently surface that middlemen were sending patients coming to Government hospitals like SCB and Capital Hospital in Bhubaneswar to several private hospitals to get commission. Following the allegations, police had kept a strict vigil on activities of such brokers and conducted crackdowns to arrest them.
