Action to be taken against road encroachments in Odisha capital

Bhubaneswar: Taking strong initiative to prevent road encroachments in Odisha’s smart city Bhubaneswar, the authorities have decided to take action against the encroachers or institutions for creating inconvenience to public in various locations.

The decision was made at the council meeting of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) held yesterday.

Bhubaneswar Mayor Anant Narayan Jena directed the officers of three zones to prepare a list of encroachers against whom the strong action will be taken to have open spaces and roads.

In view of water logging issue and rains that lashed the city yesterday, the officials reviewed cleaning project of drainage channels in various locations. The Mayor was informed about updates of sewerage work, which is underway in the city.

Sources said that steps will be taken to resolve the water logging issue in several areas including CRPF square, road between Bomikhal and Kalpana, Lingaraj temple Rath Road, Ghatikia Naka gate and ISKCON temple.
