Actor Yusuf Hussain dies due to Covid-19; Hansal Mehta condoles saying “My Urdu will remain broken”

Bhubaneswar/Mumbai:  Veteran actor Yusuf Hussain passed away on Saturday due to Covid-19. He was 73 and was undergoing treatment at Mumbai’s Lilavati Hospital.

Filmmaker Hansal Mehta who’s Yusuf’s son-in-law, confirmed that the latter lost his battle against Covid-19 today morning.

As the film fraternity is mourning the veteran actor along with his family,  Hansal Mehta posted an emotional note on his social media profile, bidding adieu to his father-in-law.

Narrating Yusuf’s persona in the heart-felt note, Hansal wrote, “ Not my father-in-law but a father. He was life if life itself had to have a physical form…”

“Yusuf Saab I owe this new life to you. I am truly orphaned today. Life will never be the same. I will miss you terribly. My Urdu will remain broken…” his note further read.

 


Following Hansal Mehta’s post, actors from the film fraternity including Abhishek Bachchan, Ayushmann Khurrana and Manoj Bajpayee came forward and offered their condolences to the departed and seasoned actor.

Yusuf Hussain made his film debut in 2002 with ‘Ab ke Baras’. He later played roles in many box-office hit films like Dhoom, Apahram, Vivah and Raees.
