Actress Bidisha De Majumdar found hanging in Kolkata apartment

Bhubaneswar/Kolkata: Bengali model-turned-actress Bidisha De Majumdar was found hanging in her rented apartment on May 25.

As per media reports, police entered into the 21-year-old’s apartment in Nagerbajar area in Kolkata by breaking the front door and found her hanging from the ceiling fan. Later, they recovered a suicide note from the deceased actress’ house, which had no name mentioned to blame for her death.

Bidisha had been in the aforementioned apartment for only one and a half month, her family said. Moreover, her friends stated that she was in a relationship and used to stay gloomy due to issues in her love life.

The cops sent the body for autopsy and as per initial investigation they suspect it could be a case of suicide. Continuing the investigation, the cops are now talking to the deceased actress’ family and close friends to gather more information.

Bidisha De Majumdar made her acting debut in 2021 with a short film ‘Bhaar-The Clown.’ It was a Anirbed Chattopadhyay directorial which also starred actor Debraj Mukherjee. Her sudden demise has shocked her fans.

Following her death, actor Suman Dey initiated a conversation regarding prioritizing mental health.

Bidisha’s death sparked conversation about Bengali television actress Pallavi Dey, who was also found hanging from a ceiling fan in her rented apartment in Kolkata.  She was 25. While, initial investigation suggested Pallavi died by suicide, the late actress’ family raised suspicion that she may have been murdered.
