Adequate security arrangements in Puri for Snana Jatra

Puri: In view of influx of devotees for the Snana Jatra of Lord Jagannath at Srimandir, the district administration made adequate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the rituals.

The police officers in various ranks have been deployed at and around the centuries old temple in Puri on Deba Snana Purnima scheduled tomorrow.

“Three commandants, 9 ASPs or deputy commandants, 37 inspectors, 16 DSPs, 225 officers, 42 platoon police and 550 home guards have been deployed for Snana Jatra,” said IG Central Range Soumendra Priyadarshi.

Besides, traffic constables have been deployed at various places for mobilizing the traffic in the pilgrim city, he said.

According to reports, the barricades will be installed for hassle free pahandi rituals of deities. The CCTVs inside the temple have been restored after Cyclone FANI.

Worth mentioning, the deities take holy shower on the occasion of Deba Snana Purnima following which they give darshan to lakhs of devotees in Gaja Besha or Hati Besha (elephant attire) on the Snana Bedi (bathing stage of deities) situated near Ananda Bazaar on premises of the Jagannath Temple.
