A five-member team, led by Additional Tehsildar Jayanti Choudhary, raided the Ashram and questioned Premamayi Krishna Mata alias Sarojini Jena.

The team grilled the Mata about herself, her previous life including her past marriage, the inmates of the ashram, their age and occupation, the source of funding for the ashram, the land papers, trust details and members of the trust.

As per sources in the administration, while the self-proclaimed god-woman did answer some of the more personal questions,  she refused to answer most of the questions pertaining to her Ashram. She insisted on the presence of her secretary during the questioning.

She claimed she had a stay order in her favor from the High Court against demolition of her Ashram, but couldn’t produce documents to prove her claim when asked by the raiding party. The administration has asked her to submit all documents with the administration for verification.

“The Ashram has been built on government land. As per information available with us, it was constructed in 1998. The Ashram authorities claimed that they have a stay order, but couldn’t show the papers. We have given them time. If they fail to submit the documents in time, we would have to demolish it,” said Additional Tehsildar Choudhary.
