Senior bureaucrat and state Agriculture Secretary Rajesh Verma will be conducting the probe, sources in the Home department said.

The administrative probe was ordered following directions of the Supreme Court, which while turning down the demand for a CBI probe by a Bangalore-based law student, who had filed a PIL in the matter, had directed the state government to identify and act against officials and people in positions of power who had failed to respond to the deceased’s repeated plea for help.

Sources said the Home Secretary Vipin Saxena, in his letter to the Agriculture secretary has asked him to cover different aspects and angles in the case and submit a final report preferably in the next 14 weeks.
