Admission in Odisha +2 streams from Aug 1 to fill up 77,000 vacant seats

Concerned over 76,619 vacant seats in the Plus Two streams even after the completion of admission process in Odisha, the Higher Education has decided to go for yet another round of admission process to fill up these vacant seats from August 1.

Sources in the department said that while not a single student has taken admission in 43 Plus Two colleges, less than 10 students have been admitted in 144 Plus Three colleges.

Out of a total of 337,524 seats, only 260,905 seats have been filled up so far.

According to a notification issued by the Higher Education department, students, who were not allotted seats in the first phase admission or had not applied for admission; those who were eligible for admission but have not taken admission; others who had opted out of admission for not being allowed to shift to other colleges after getting admission in the first college they had opted for, and those who have cleared supplementary examinations, can apply for admission.

The admission process would begin from August 1.

The students have to apply for admission by downloading common application form (CAF) from the website of the Higher Education department www.orissadhe.in from August 1 to 11.

The list of the eligible students would be displayed in the notice board of the colleges on August 12 while the admission would take place from August 14 to 18.

As per the information available in the Higher Education department, there has been no admission in the 29 Plus Two Science colleges – including nine in Bhubaneswar – having strength of 64 to 128 seats.

The situation is same in the other 12 Plus Two Science colleges having the strength of 32, 64 and 128 seats.  Not a single student has taken admission in the remaining two Plus Two Arts colleges that have 128 seats each.

On the other hand, only nine students each have taken admission in the 91 Plus Two Science, Commerce and Arts colleges in the state.
