The process for admission in six homoeopathic and four ayurvedic colleges in Odisha would begin from September 20.

As informed by the secretary of Odisha Joint Entrance Examination (OJEE) Priyabrata Sahu, counseling for admission in the aforesaid colleges would begin from September 20.

Students seeking admission, will have to register their names with the OJEE website www.ojee.nic.in from September 20 to 23.

Verification of documents would be held from September 25 to 27 while allotment of seats would be made on September 29.

Sources in the Directorate of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy) said that the counseling for admission for 160 seats in four government and two private homoeopathic medical colleges will be held.

While four government homoeopathic medical colleges—Abhinna Chandra Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar, Utkalamani Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Rourkela, Biju Patnaik Homoeopathic Medical College, Brahmapur and Odisha Medical College of Homoeopathy, Sambalpur have 25 seats each, two private Homoeopathic colleges—Homoeopathy Medical College and Hospital, Baripada and Medical College of Homoeopathy, Cuttack— have 30 seats each.

In the ayurvedic stream, admission for 120 seats in three government and one private medical colleges will be held.

There are 30 seats each in three government ayurvedic medical colleges—Gopabandhu Ayurveda College, Puri, Kaviraj Ananta Tripathy Sharma Ayurveda College, Ankushpur (Ganjam) and Government Ayurveda College, Bolangir— and one private college Indira Gandhi Memorial Ayurveda College and Hospital, Bhubaneswar.

It may be mentioned here that the Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) had stopped admission in these aforesaid homoeopathic and ayurveda colleges in the state citing lack of adequate infrastructure and acute shortage of teaching staff.

Despite this, OJEE had conducted entrance test for admission in these institutions in which 4000 candidates have qualified with ranks.

Following request by the state Health department, CCIM has allowed admission in these institutions with a reminder to the concerned authorities to ensure necessary infrastructure and appointment of required number of teaching staff within a year failing which it would withdraw affiliations from these colleges.
