Bhubaneswar: At least 13 candidates of the total 40 in fray for five Lok Sabha constituencies in Odisha, scheduled to go for polling in the second phase on May 20, have assets worth over Rs 1 crore, said the ADR report today.

The Association of Democratic Reforms (ADR) released its report after analyzing the poll affidavits of all 40 candidates for five Lok Sabha seats—Aska, Bargarh, Balangir, Kandhamal and Sundargarh—in Odisha.

At least four candidates each of ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress have declared assets worth over Rs 1 crore in their poll affidavits, said the ADR report.

One independent nominee of the total seven trying their luck in the second phase polls in Odisha has declared assets worth over Rs 1 crore, added the ADR report.

Of the total 40 candidates, BJP nominee for Balangir Lok Sabha seat, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, is the richest with assets worth over Rs 67 crore.

Sangeeta, the wife of Balangir royal scion and former minister KV Singh Deo, has declared immovable assets worth Rs 59.52 crore and movable assets worth Rs 7.78 crore in her poll affidavit.

Dilip Tirkey, the BJD nominee for Sundargarh Lok Sabha seat, is the second richest candidate with assets worth over Rs 12 crore.

Dilip, the president of Hockey India and a former captain of Indian Men’s Hockey Team, has declared immovable assets worth Rs 10.10 crore and movable Assets worth Rs 2.16 crore in his poll affidavit.

Former Union Minister and BJP nominee for Sundargarh, Jual Oram, is the third richest candidate with assets worth over Rs 8 crore.

The tribal leader has declared immovable assets worth Rs 5.83 crore and movable assets worth Rs 2.79 crore in his affidavit while filing the nomination, said the ADR report.

As per the ADR report, Devika Sika, the National Apni Party nominee for Bargarh Lok Sabha seat, has the lowest assets among the 40 candidates in the fray for the second phase Parliamentary polls in Odisha.

Devika has declared movable assets worth Rs 10,222 in the poll affidavit. The National Apni Party nominee does not have any immovable assets.

Balaram Sa, the independent nominee for Balangir seat, has declared assets worth Rs 30,000 in his poll affidavit.

SUCI(C) nominee for Sundargarh, Justin Lugun, has declared assets worth Rs 33,784 while filing nomination, said the ADR report.

Both Balaram and Justin do not have any immovable assets, it added.
