Puri: A Judicial court and several government offices including collectorate were sealed after an advocate and a court staff tested positive for COVID-19 in Puri district today.
The district administration sealed District Civil Court, Collectorate, Sub-Collector Office and District Sub-Registrar Office in Puri.
As part of precautionary measures to contain spread of deadly virus, the area from Harihar Chhak to Town Hall has been declared as containment zone, informed Puri Sub-Collector.
One lawyer of the District Civil Court and a court staff (moharir) have tested positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately, wife of the moharir is also working at the civil court. In view of this, we have sealed all the offices adjacent to the court including Bar Association office, Tehsil office and Collectorate. We have declared the area from Town Hall to Harihar Chhak as the containment zone, said Puri Collector Balwant Singh.
The containment restrictions will remain in force till further order.
All the government offices under containment zone have been closed. The shutdown period is effective from 10.00 am of June 17 until further orders. The massive contact tracing process will begin in next two to three days. The testing will be done to detect COVID-19 cases in the area. The employees of the government offices located within the boundary of containment zone will work from home, he said.
Today, 18 fresh COVID-19 cases have been reported in last 24 hours in Puri district. With this, total number of cases in the district increased to 188, of which 85 are active and 103 have recovered so far.
