After 14 years of marriage, man kills wife in Odisha

Sambalpur: A man allegedly killed his wife after 14 years of marriage. The incident created a shock wave among residents at Simlibahal village under Gobindapur police limits in Sambalpur district of Odisha.

The deceased has been identified as Asmita Saa. The accused Swapneswar Saa has been detained for interrogation in the case.

According to reports, Asmita had married Swapneswar of Simlibahal village 14 years ago. The couple was blessed with two daughters – Bharati (13) and Jyoti (9).

However, the couple was indulging into quarrel with each other quite often and their matter was being resolved at village meetings, alleged Sushant Kaudi, brother of the deceased and resident of Simlibahal village.

As per his allegation, on Monday, his two nieces (daughters of his sister) rushed to him and told him that their father murdered their mother. After hearing this, he immediately went to his sister’s home and found mutilated body of his sister lying on the bed.

He alleged his sister was killed by on Sunday night.

Based on complaint lodged by the deceased woman’s family, the Garposh Police Outpost officer-in-charge Debraj Pradhan along with his team reached the village and recovered the body. They detained the accused and initiated probe into the incident. A case has been registered in this connection under sections 302 and 498(a) of IPC at the Gobindapur Police Station.
