After Bhubaneswar, Odisha govt waives ground rents for Puja committees in Cuttack

Bhubaneswar: The civic authorities in Odisha’s Cuttack city will not collect ground rents from Puja committees during the upcoming festive season.

The state government today issued an order in this regard. The elected representatives and various Puja committees in Cuttack had earlier urged Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to waive ground rents for holding Dessehra and other festivals on public places.

The Chief Minister has directed the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) not to collect grounds rents from Puja committees for holding Durga Puja (Dussehra), Kali Puja, Laxmi Puja and Kartikeswar Puja on public places in the Silver City, said an official.

The Chief Minister had earlier announced that the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) will not collect ground rents from committees holding Dussehra and other festivals on public places in the capital city here.

The BMC used to collect ground rents ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 40,000 from Puja committees for holding festivals on public places, sources said.
