After Biju Vichar Manch, Dama to float Biju Samata Kranti Dal

Paradip: Close to two months after veteran Odisha politician Dr Damodar Rout was expelled from Biju Janata Dal (BJD), the 76-year-old today revealed the name of his soon-to-be floated political party here.

Speaking to journalists here today, the septuagenarian said the new outfit will be named as Biju Samata Kranti Dal and it has almost been finalized. We would sit and formally declare it soon.

Sources said, a formal announcement in this regard is likely in a day or two.

On Wednesday, the veterinarian-turned-politician had hinted at the possibility of floating a regional party to fight against the misrule, corruption and gross injustice in the state.

Worth mentioning, the Paradip MLA was expelled from the party on September 12 this year for his alleged ‘anti-party’ activities.

Rout, one of the founding members of the BJD, has always been in limelight for his controversial remarks. In December last year, the seven-time legislator paid heavily as he lost his ministerial berth and post of party vice president for his disparaging remarks against Brahmins that created much hue and cry in the state. Members of the community also burnt Rout’s effigy in front of the Jagannath temple in Puri.

The Paradip strongman had made a similar attempt in 2011 in the shape of Biju Vichar Manch – a non-political outfit. The forum was set up soon after he lost ministerial berth.
