After brief spell of rain, winter likely to return in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After brief spell of light rainfall, winter is set to return in Odisha from January 26, informed the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar today.

According to MeT, the weather is likely to dry across Odisha with drop in mercury after January 26.

“No large change in minimum temperature (night temperature) during next two days and gradual fall by 3 to 5 degree Celsius thereafter over the districts of Odisha,” a weather bulletin stated today.

Meanwhile, the rain is in the forecast for several districts today and tomorrow.

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Coastal Odisha, Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri, Koraput and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha between today and tomorrow morning.

Similarly, light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha, Jagatsinghpur, Rayagada, Koraput, Kandhamal and dry weather very likely to prevail over the rest districts of Odisha during January 25 to 26 morning.

As per MeT bulletin, light to moderate rainfall has occurred at most places over the districts of North Coastal Odisha, at many places over
the districts of North Interior Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha in last 24 hours.

Chief amount of rainfall recorded in Bhuban (Dhenkanal) with 4 cm, Paradeep (Jagatsinghpur) 4 cm, Panposh (Sundargarh) 3 cm, Bhadrak (Bhadrak) 3 cm, Binjharpur (Jajpur) 3 cm, Ghatagaon (Keonjhargarh) 2 cm, Rajkanika (Kendrapara) 2 cm, Bari (Jajpur) 2 cm, Jashipur (Mayurbhanj) 2 cm, Remuna (Balasore) 2 cm, Kantapada (Cuttack) 2 cm, Sukinda (Jajpur) 2 cm, Nischintakoili (Cuttack) 2 cm, Tikarpara (Angul) 2 cm, Athgarh (Cuttack) 2 cm, Mundali (Cuttack) 2 cm, Cuttack (Cuttack) 2 cm and Nh5 Gobindpur (Balasore) 2 cm.

The MeT issued dense fog alert for some places in Odisha for next 3 days.

Jan 25: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Angul, Dhenkanal and Keonjhar.

Jan 26: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Gajapati, Ganjam, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Khordha and Cuttack.

Jan 27: Dense fog very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Gajapati and Ganjam.
