After joining BJD, Naba Das resigns as MLA

Bhubaneswar: Naba Kishore Das, who had recently left the Congress party and joined the BJD, resigned as the Jharsuguda MLA today.

Das met Pradip Kumar Amat, Speaker of the Odisha Assembly, here and submitted his resignation letter duly.

“The resignation is given voluntarily and the same may kindly be accepted in accordance with Rule- 168 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in the Odisha Legislative Assembly,” the letter read.

The former Congress leader had on January 24 joined the BJD at a public meeting in Jharsuguda in the presence of Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik. He had on January 16 resigned from the primary membership of the Congress party.

In his resignation letter addressed to All India Congress Committee (AICC) President Rahul Gandhi, Das had mentioned that people and voters of his area want him to contest the upcoming election from BJD as they want the development of the area.
