After one day pause, COVID vaccination drive resumes in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After one-day pause, COVID-19 vaccination drive  resumed in Odisha today.

To meet target, the drive is being conducted at an increased number of 380 session sites, where 31,902 healthcare workers are expected to be vaccinated across the state today. Till January 25, 1.78 lakh healthcare workers will be immunized at 1698 session sites.

On the first day of the drive on January 16, total 13,890 (85%) healthcare workers, including doctors were given the first shot of the vaccine at 161 session sites. Six districts had registered 100% vaccination on the first day.

Official sources said the decision on the number of session sites on different dates has already been taken. On January 19, the vaccination will be carried out at 192 session sites, 92 on January 20, 436 on January 21, 141 on January 22, 178 on January 23 and 279 on January 25.

“Those given the first dose of vaccine will be administered the second dose after 28 days, accordingly.  A text message will be sent to the beneficiaries about administration of the second dose at least two to three days before. We have sufficient vaccines for the same,” said Health and Family Welfare Director and Vaccine In-charge Bijay Panigrahi.
