After Panchayat Polls, BJD confident of winning ULB Polls in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: After Biju Janata Dal (BJD) swept the Panchayat Polls in Odisha, the ruling party is confident enough for a ‘landslide victory’ in forthcoming ULB polls scheduled on March 24, 2022.

“The Biju Janata Dal will perform well and we are hopeful to win the the upcoming ULB polls in the State. We will bag more votes because there are conscious voters and they will acknowledge the initiatives and programmes launched by the Government,” said BJD Spokesperson and legislator Pratap Keshari Deb here today.

“Undoubtedly, the upcoming elections to civic bodies are a challenge for us. But, we have worked hard with everyone on grassroot level. People have immense trust on BJD. There are many aspirants to get ticket for various posts in the polls. We hope that we will give tickets to right candidates and will win more seats,” he said.

The way opposition parties are conducting negative politics, they only want to prove their positions by spreading misinformation on media, the BJD leader said in support of statement made by Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik yesterday.

On allegations of using money power and government machinery during recently concluded three-tier Panchayat elections, he said, “the terms such as ‘arthadesh’ and ‘jantradesh’ are all ‘Election Jumla’. These terms are usually used by opposition parties.”

“The rural body polls were not fought on party symbols. The candidates of Sarpanch and Panchayat Samiti Member might have won on local issues. The locals have chosen their representatives based on the work done by the candidates in their villages,” he added.
