After Patnagarh, parcel bomb blast rocks another Odisha town

Bargarh: A man sustained critical injuries after a parcel bomb exploded in front of his house in Odisha’s Bargarh district today, police said.

The injured, identified as SH Nagabhusan, has been admitted to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Science and Research (VIMSAR), Burla in Sambalpur. He is out of danger now.

The incident took place at Bhalupatara village under Attabira block in the district this afternoon.

According to Bargarh Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Bhamoo, a brown colour parcel was placed on the boundary wall of Nagabhusan when it exploded.

Prima facie, it appears some miscreants had kept the parcel on the boundary but the motive behind it is yet to be ascertained, the SP, who is on the spot, added.

Meanwhile, a scientific team also rushed to the spot and started investigation.

DIG of police (Northern range), Satyabrata Bhoi, informed that the police is interrogating the family members of the injured and some locals from the area.

Notably, a parcel bomb had exploded inside the house of a newly wedded couple in Patnagarh in Odisha’s Balangir district that killed the just married man and his grandmother on the spot. The woman had sustained critical injuries.
