After steep spike in COVID-19 cases, Ganjam classified Red Zone in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: A day after steep spike in COVID-19 positive cases in Ganjam, the district has been classified as the Red zone in Odisha.

As per the Ministry of Home Affairs guidelines, Ganjam now falls under Red zone with total tally of 21 cases with all active numbers.

Since maiden cases have been reported from Jagatsinghpur and Mayurbhanj, the two Odisha districts have been categorized into Orange Zone.

All necessary stipulations by the Government of India and State Government applicable for different zones in districts or municipal corporations are to be followed scrupulously, a notification by State Health & Family Welfare Department stated.

Worth mentioning, Ganjam is the fourth district and fifth area in Odisha to have been designated as red zone after Jajpur, Bhadrak, Balasore districts and areas under Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).

In Ganjam, all the persons tested positive for COVID-19 are Surat returnees. Today, 17 cases were reported in the district while Mayurbhanj district registered three new cases taking total count to 205 in Odisha.
