After VIMSAR, COVID-19 hits another college in Odisha’s Sambalpur

Sambalpur: Three students and a staff of a private residential college under Sasana police limits in Sambalpur district have tested positive for COVID-19. 

However, all the infectees have been kept under isolation and condition of all of them is stable now, informed the district administration.

Following detection of the cases, district officials sealed the educational institution to carry out a sanitization drive as part of precautionary measures. Besides, active contact tracing is underway.

Earlier last month, over 70 students of Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) in Burla of the district had contracted the virus.

Initially, 22 students of the medical college were found positive for the virus, few days after an annual function was organised at the educational institution. While hundreds of medical students had attended the event, many of them reportedly violated COVID-19 guidelines by not wearing masks and maintaining social distancing during the function.
