Age restriction for darshan at Odisha’s Lingaraj Temple withdrawn

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) today withdrew the age restriction for darshan of deities at the Lingaraj Temple in Odisha capital. Devotees of all age groups will be allowed to visit the shrine.

The BMC had earlier barred the entry of elderly persons and children below 10 years of age.

However, those intending to visit the temple need to produce COVID-19 negative report for the entry. The BMC has made arrangements for COVID-19 testing free of cost near the temple for those lacking the test report.

The temple had reopened on 27.12.2020 only for sevayats and their family members. From 03.01.2021 to 05.01.2021, the temple opened exclusively for the citizens of Bhubaneswar.

From today, tourists and devotees from other parts of the state/country will be allowed inside the temple with strict observance of COVID-19 safety protocol. At one point of time, maximum of 500 nos. of devotees will be allowed from Singhadwar to Ada Katha till 31.01.2021.
