The outgoing DDG Commodore B K Patnaik relinquished the command of NCC Odisha today after an extraordinarily successful tenure of three years.

During his tenure, NCC Odisha created history by becoming ‘Runners Up’ in the Republic Day Championships in New Delhi. The journey to achieve excellence began when NCC Odisha moved from 16th position in 2011 to the 8th position in 2012 and 5th position in 2013 with the active participation of cadets in Republic Day parade in Delhi.

And the crowning glory came with the state NCC becoming the ‘Runners Up’ in 2014.

Commodore Patnaik had worked relentlessly towards expanding the reach of NCC and providing a viable career option to the youth. Thanks to his efforts, NCC was introduced in various colleges of the state as an elective subject and this trend is spreading as more and more students are opting for the NCC, official sources in the NCC headquarters said.

Commanding officers of all Battalions, Naval Units and Air Squadrons in the state, Office staffs and cadets of Army Wing today bid farewell to Commodore Patnaik and wished him good luck in future.

On this occasion, Commodore Patnaik wished his Commodore Agrawalla even greater success and hoped Odisha cadets would receive the Republic Day Championship banner from Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the January 2015 Republic Day parade.
