AICTE offers Rs 50k scholarship for students who lost parents to COVID; Know how to apply

Bhubaneswar: The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has announced SWANATH Scholarship to aid students whose parents died of COVID-19 as well as wards of Armed Forces and central paramilitary forces martyred in action to pursue studies in institutions approved by it.

The selected students will receive Rs 50,000 every year for a maximum of 4 years towards payment of college fee, purchase of computer, stationeries, books, equipment and software.

The students will be selected on the basis of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

A total of 2,000 scholarships will be disbursed among 1000 degree students and 1000 diploma students.

Who can apply for scholarship?

  • Students who lost their parents to Covid-19, wards of Armed Forces and Central Paramilitary Forces martyred in action can apply.
  • Students currently studying in AICTE approved institutions and courses at degree or diploma level in regular mode are eligible to apply for the scholarship.
  • The family income of students must not exceed Rs 8 lakh per annum.
  • Students should not be receiving financial support through any other means.

Documents Needed

Students will have to submit applications on the official website of National Scholarship Portal before 30 November 2021.

  • Death certificate of father and mother, and orphan certificate issued by SDM or Tehsildar.
  • Bonafide certificate issued by the institution.
  • Plus II or equivalent and Class-10 mark sheet for degree level and Class-10 or equivalent for diploma level.
  • Category certificate if relevant.
  • Death certificate of father or mother or both explicitly mentioning that the death was due to Covid-19.
  • Shaheed certificate issued by the Armed Forces or Central Paramilitary Forces.
