AIIMS-Delhi doctor conducts health check-up of conjoined twin survivor Jaga in Odisha’s Kandhamal

Phulbani: A doctor of AIIMS-Delhi, who had carried out the separation surgery of conjoined twin Jaga and Balia in 2017, conducted a thorough health check-up of the survivor today. He recommended that the child be sent to school as he is fit now to start his elementary education.

The doctor Professor Dipak Gupta visited the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Phulbani of Kandhamal district after reaching here. He stayed in the cabin of Jaga for quite long hours for the purpose. “Jaga is fit and fine now and he can go to school,” doctor Gupta said.

Later, during a discussion with the chief district medical officer (CDMO), the professor reiterated the same and advised the CDMO.

Besides, Dr. Gupta has expressed to Jaga’s parents and the CDMO that a second operation on his brain will be done in the future at an appropriate time,” quoting the neurosurgeon the DHH superintendent Abhaya Patnaik stated.

“Jaga is now around nine years old. His second neurosurgical operation will either be done at the Plastic Surgery department of AIIMS in Bhubaneswar or New Delhi. However, we will get the child admitted to a school,” the DHH superintendent added.
