Aim to meet many more successes on way: Odisha’s beauty Sonika

Bhubaneswar: Beauty queen Sonika Roy, who grabbed attention of international spectators with her performance at Miss Asia Pacific International 2017, has no more specific target in her life, rather she wants to achieve more successes on her way.

“There is no specific goal in my life, rather I have aim to meet many more successes on the way,” said Sonika in an interview to leading vernacular daily ‘Sambad’ after landing in Bhubaneswar airport on Friday.

Miss India Asia Pacific 2017 winner and Femina Miss India finalist 2015 Sonika has recently won two subtitles — Miss Zanea Online Asia Pacific International 2017 and Miss People’s Choice Award Miss Asia Pacific international 2017 — at Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 held in Philippines in November.

She won Miss Zanea Online at Asia Pacific International 2017 in public voting receiving the highest online votes. One of her photos got 50,000 likes and 39,000 shares online. The most talented young woman could not believe when her name was announced to bag Miss People’s Choice Award at the grand finale of Miss Asia Pacific international 2017.

Sharing her experience here, Sonika said that she has come back to her homeland with a lot of memories, love from people of Philippines. Even though, it was her first international beauty pageant in her career, she learnt many things abroad.

Sonika participated in many rounds during the beauty pageant. She went through a hectic schedule and worked hard in the past 21 days to win the titles in various categories in Philippines.

“At pre-judges round held on Nov 27, 18 international judges had asked me about Indian culture and my state. They all were impressed with me after I replied about Jagannath Temple in Puri, Odisha tourism and other historical places,” Sambad quoted Sonika as saying.

It was a great event for her in Philippines where she was able to meet contestants from 42 countries. She got opportunity to know culture of other countries including Brazil, New Zealand, Canada and Australia. Miss Hong Kong and Miss Iceland were her roommates in Philippines.

The biggest achievement for her was the number of fans in Philippines she came to know and see at Manila airport where she received a warm welcome from the fans and they took selfies with her while she was on her way back to India.

She won first subtitle in National Costume Competition at Miss Asia Pacific International 2017 representing India.

Earlier, Sonika had offer from Ollywood to prove her acting talent in films. She had two films in her hand, but she preferred to take part in beauty contests as she got good offers.

After putting her step in international beauty contest, Sonika is now looking forward to give time for films.
